The Nith Hotel

The village of Glencaple was developed as a port for nearby Dumfries in 1746. The historic core of the village lies near to the quayside and hotel. In the late nineteenth century the village contained a boatyard as well as many small businesses associated with the riverside location.

Situated in the heart of Glencaple village the Nith Hotel; formerly the Nith Coffee House has operated since the late 1800's, and has a long and established history of providing service to travellers.

The Nith Hotel has been owned by the Houliston family for over 60 years. The first generation to take control were Billy & Betty Houliston. Billy, a well known local celebrity and former Scotland international footballer played for Queen of the South FC. The late Keith Houliston then took the reins with wife Joan and today the hotel is managed by mother and daughter team Joan & Jennifer Houliston.

Jennifer the 3rd generation to run the hotel is focused on providing clients with quality at an affordable price.
